Attention Women –

Today is the day…the day to start healing and stop suffering.  You deserve a life of peace and fulfillment.

At NHT- Nourish Heal Transform the focus is to get to the root of what is keeping you on the same path of pain and suffering.  Whether you find yourself trapped in a bad relationship, stuck in a miserable job, or you just can’t seem to make healthy choices despite the harm they bring upon you, you can end the vicious cycle.  Life is hard, but it does not have to be unbearable.  The ability to stop repeating the same failed attempts to improve your health and your life is the most empowering transformation possible.

Even though you might feel like things will never change and you are destined to feel miserable forever, I’m here to tell you after 17 years as a therapist, CHANGE CAN and WILL happen.  As your thinking evolves, your behaviors will naturally change as well.

Not only have I seen change happen when people are committed to do the work in order to reap the benefits on a professional level with my clients,  I have had my own personal journey of overcoming destructive habits.  Life can undoubtedly be extremely challenging, but the more you invest in equipping yourself with the tools to manage these stressors, the less impact the challenges will have on you.

NHT takes an integrative approach using both therapeutic methods and nutrition in order to accelerate your results to help you free yourself from relying on destructive behaviors. When you work with Susan Yuen,  we take a collaborative approach to look at all areas of your life that might be creating barriers to your health and well-being.  My mission is to help women overcome lives of constant guilt, shame, anxiety, and depression and transform their lives to lives of hope, confidence, and courage.

Q What can I expect from receiving services at NHT with Susan Yuen?

Services start with a thorough health assessment in a 90 minute intake session. After that, we generally meet one time a week. During this time , we build skills for you to utilize to manage stress and to overcome any destructive habits you may have. After you are fairly adept at implementing your new skills, we move into clearing out any barriers that may be inhibiting you from achieving your goals. This is completed with both the use of dietary suggestions/targeted nutrients and the use of a specific therapeutic modality called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). More info about this can be found on my website or at www.emdria.org.

Once the EMDR process is complete and lifestyle strategies have been consistently implemented, people generally find they have a remarkably improved quality of life. Energy is usually restored, mood is elevated, and overall satisfaction with life is increased.

Q What is your professional training and experience?

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Nutrition Specialist. I have a Master's degree in Community Counseling and a Master's degree in Nutrition and Integrative Health. I have worked as a therapist for 16 years and a nutritionist for 3 years.

I also am a Certified EMDR practitioner. I have found EMDR to be an invaluable addition to my practice as it can have a remarkable impact on the quality of a person's life.

I have been employed in a variety of settings from schools, to psychiatric hospitals, to private practice.

Q Why do you work with women and what ages of women do you work with?

My passion is to help women who have been misled about their value to heal their wounds from the past in order to have the most fulfilling and abundant life possible.

I work with women primarily between 30 and 70 years of age, but I often work with slightly younger or older clients .

Q How soon can I expect to experience results when receiving services at NHT?

How quickly you will experience results completely depends on several factors. The severity of the wounds from the past that need to be healed, the motivation of the client, and the amount of time the client can dedicate to her healing process. In general, the more consistent a client is with attending sessions and doing the take action tasks, the more likely she is to have fairly quick results. Clients who miss appointments, rarely do their take home tasks, and have unrealistic expectations of the process rarely achieve their goals. Like anything, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
