What
    Where

Currently I see clients through Life Practice Counseling where I am supervised by a licensed marriage and family therapist, Carisa Sherwood. I have been seeing clients since 2013 and expect to be licensed by 11/2018.

You are on a quest right now to find a therapist to help you through a challenging moment in your life. My job is to support you and help you through it.

Finding a therapist is a challenge  because usually people are looking for help while going through a tough time emotionally and also trying to find somebody that excepts your insurance, somebody that you might be able to get along with, somebody that isn’t too far away from your home, etc.  I completely understand and commend you on your perseverance as you make your way through these lists of names, faces and websites.

Therapy is all about you and finding somebody that will work with you while you go through your journey.

Q What type of insurance do I accept?

What type of insurance do I accept? Currently I can except Medi-Cal is long as it is administered by Anthem Blue Cross for HealthNet. We can also do private pay and that will be on a sliding scale based on your income after taxes.
The advantage of going private pay is that your diagnosis is completely confidential no insurance company has to find out what it is, your employer doesn't have to find out, it's 100% your business and you won't be limited by a specific number of sessions.

Q Why are your fees for private pay is so low?

The reason that my fees for private pay or so low is because I am currently not yet licensed. I work under the license of Carisa Sherwood. I am registered with the board of behavioral sciences and I have a Masters degree in marriage and family therapy

Q Why should I go to an unlicensed therapist?

Unlicensed isn't necessarily a bad thing when the therapist is still finishing up the required hours for the board of behavioral sciences. After we graduate with a masters degree we need to complete 3000 hours in the state of California before we can take our licensing exam. Currently I am almost done with that process. I have been seeing clients since 2013 and have many many hours of experience working with all kinds of clients with all kinds of different and unique situations.
