Developed in the late 70’s and early 80’s by Steve De Shazer and Kim Berg, solution focused therapy, also called solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), is focused around immediate goal setting and working towards solving immediate problems/reaching immediate objectives. This approach is unique in that it requires focusing more narrowly on the present, and usually assumes the client has a fairly clear idea of what they are hoping to accomplish/how they want to grow in therapy.
