Therapists Who Practice Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy involves activities like role play, acting, crafts, and props, and offers a unique style in that the client participates in a hands on activity to engage with their issues. This approach can have many forms, and is often used for someone experiencing trauma, compulsions, behavioral problems, or anxiety. It’s very similar to other more specific therapeutic approaches that involve creative self -expression, such as equine therapy or art therapy, but this term is applied more broadly to include both of those within this umbrella. The idea of experiential therapy is for the client to work through emotional distress through activities. Achieving goals and/or expressing oneself creatively, can help unlock emotional strain and/or reveal new understandings.
