Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, involves addressing 4 specific skill sets: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Originally designed to treat borderline personality disorder, DBT has been found to be successful with many different diagnoses. It can be used in one on one therapy or in groups, and is centered on changing perceptions and behavior that are negatively affecting the client’s life and emotional state.
