Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT, works to improve behavior, thoughts, and the way in which we process emotions. CBT is different from other approaches in that it is solution focused and doesn’t necessarily dive into one’s childhood, past, or traumas in the same was as other approaches. This is not to say that those who practice CBT never address a client’s past or trauma, but the focus is on finding a solution to current problems, rather than diving into past ones.
